Stanford Tour July 14 Day 5 Group 1
We continue our exciting adventures at Stanford University today again! This morning, we attended an intriguing and inspiring lesson called 'Robotic Thinking'. At first, many of us were confused about the topic as the teacher began the lecture by discussing about arguments and assessing how effective they can be to persuade an audience. We simply could not connect the nature of debate to robots and technology.
It was until we learnt mathematical symbols and how to input sentences into equations that it dawned on us the key to develop persuasive arguments and how robots work and think. We also explored philosophy through famous philosophers such as Plato and Jordon Peterson. The short physics lesson we had in the end moreover enhanced our ability to think logically. Many of us became interested in math and physics after this lesson!
The scavenger hunt after lunch was the most thrilling activity of the day. We were split into smaller groups by random and were given a list of places on campus where we would have to accomplish several missions, for example taking photos, singing and talking to strangers. The task may seem demanding at first glance, but with the help of cooperative group mates and good leadership skills, we were able to successfully guide ourselves to finish the game. Most of the strangers we met along the way were surprisingly friendly, happy to help us, and even felt proud of being our 'tour guides' when we were lost in the large campus! Although we were all drenched with sweat and fatigue after the hunt, our efforts have definitely paid off and created stronger bonds between us.
We ended the day at the Stanford shopping center. We got a chance to visit some famous stores and try out scrumptious food along the way... what a good way to relax after an exhausting week!
