Stanford Tour Group 2 Day 3
Stanford tour group 2 day 3
Our third day started off with our visual design thinking class. Our teacher, Bill, demonstrated a lot of unique ways to draw basic 3D shapes such as cubes; he encouraged us to think out of the box and helped us realise that ideas are never bad and that we should always appreciate our ideas, even though sometimes they may sound unrealistic. He also showed us steps to brainstorm concepts and gave us insight for our global solutions project regarding the 4 issues we are working on. His advice helped a lot for our global solutions project meeting that afternoon and we also learnt to be bold in sharing our own opinions.

Our second class was leadership by Chloe. She gave a leadership toolkit to us, teaching us the 3 types of relationships, which were yourself, 1:1 and group, her speech emphasised that we should always love ourselves, which is the foundation of all relationships. The activities such as sharing the time we felt powerful and ‘power pose’ also inspired us that we are all born as leaders; we should step out of our comfort zone and one’s power should never be underestimated as all our actions influence others as well. This made us realise how much power we truly have and helped build our confidence.
After classes we had our third global solutions project meeting. This meeting we dived deeper into the 4 issues we have chosen. We found it very useful to implement the knowledge we learnt from previous classes into the formation of ideas and solutions to combat the issues of our island. Sharing our thoughts and listening to others also helped us understand and respect the cultures and perspectives of different places.
Overall, the classes we had today were very rewarding. The visualisation and leadership skills helped us grow in terms of identifying our importance and this boosted our self-esteem, as well as the love for ourselves.
