Stanford Tour Day 5 Group 2

Today, we had Nature, Nurture, and Epigenetics with Sebastian.

After lunch, we had our incredible campus activities which were Scavenger Hunt, shopping at the Stanford shopping centre.

In a nutshell, today was superb and fun!

Designing our own backpacks 18 th July 2018 Our 9 th day started off with the Business and Entrepreneurship class instructed by Raj Bhargava. The class was surprisingly fun and amazing as we had the chance to design our own backpack company. We were only given a limited amount of time to finish various tasks, it seemed impossible for us to complete them but we managed to do so at last and we were all proud of ourselves. It was truly enjoyable listening to presentations of creative backpack designs. This lesson was definitely informative and incredible. After lunch, we had our second social science related lesson: circular economy, with Anne-Laure Strong. It was a little bit different from what we learnt in economics lessons at school, it was a combination of Liberal Studies and Economics. Group 4 Day 5

This morning, our group had a ‘message in music’ lesson.   One of our most fascinating activities in class was to annotate a song chosen by the other group, in which the song represents the Stanford University. Through this group work, we realized that there could be a hidden story behind every song, and it was crucial for us to discover those meaningful stories through music by ourselves. Through this exhausting but enjoyable outdoor activity, we learnt to be persistent and realized the importance of teamwork in order to complete as our missions. Afterwards, we did some shopping in the Stanford Shopping centre and played dodge ball. We had a wonderful time buying souvenirs and had lots of fun in playing sport games with our dearest friends. Day 7 Group 1

This morning we had a SLAC tour. We visited the linear accelerator and learnt a lot about how the hard x-ray laser is made from electrons through long copper pipes for taking stop-motion pictures of atoms and molecules. It was an amazing experience to learn so much about high-end technology and understood how much technology has improved throughout the ages. After lunch, we learnt about the principles of cognitive neuroscience. It was a really informative class as we learnt a lot about different parts of the brain and the process of thinking. Then, we had our third GSP meeting. We worked efficiently and we discussed all aspects of the project in detail. I learnt how to accept everyone's ideas and find a conclusion. After dinner, we went to the field to play Capture the Flag with participants from House 1047. It was an intense game and we had a lot of fun.
