# Multi-Culture Exhibition

We had an enjoyable day in Stanford, where we had classes of democracy and visual digital storytelling. In the evening, we had the Multi-Culture Exhibition (MCE), which gave us a chance to share our cultures with students from different countries, learn about other cultures and also meeting new friends! We all had a memorable evening.

We had a lesson about democracy this morning and it was quite challenging, but fun at the same time. In this lesson we got to explore the different types of government, the advantages and disadvantages of democracy. Mr Jeff also played us several videos to strengthen our knowledge and keep us entertained at all times. We all learnt a valuable lesson without a doubt and it was eye opening for us.

After lunch, we had visual digital storytelling class. The instructor Joel brought us out to the hoover tower where we did experiments with the lighting, composition and how to tell a story using the photos taken up in the tower. It was an amazing once in a lifetime experience as we can actually learn the practical art of photography and not just through theory. We enjoyed ourselves and took many beautiful photos during the afternoon.

The highlight of the night was definitely the multi-cultural exhibition. Everyone prepared a lot for this exhibition and we experienced a lot of different cultures in just a few hours, which is pretty amazing. We watched presentations from Brazil, the Philippines and other European countries.  We also enjoyed their dancing and singing performances. Throughout the night, our new friends from different backgrounds came over and enjoyed themselves with the activities we set up. We were really surprised that many of them knew how to use chopsticks properly and were very eager to learn cantonese words and chinese culture.

In conclusion, we had an unforgettable day and we gained knowledge of the different cultures,  politics and how to tell stories with photos.

We want to conclude our day with a quote, “Culture is the widening of the mind and of the spirit”. We are looking forward to the next day!

Today we started off as usual with breakfast. However, after such a mundane everyday task, we had the opportunity to visit the famous SLAC laboratory just a couple minutes' drive away. The only word the lab could be described as was awe-inspiring. Although we had quite a hard time in understanding the terminology the tour guide used, it was still an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The metal tubes that housed the accelerators were rather massive and we were a little surprised at how much work and effort went into making sure each measurement and result was precisely accurate. The time we spent there was a bit on the short side though. We just wish we could have stayed there longer. Nevertheless, the pressed pennies will definitely serve as an item of sentiment. Stanford tour 2018 Group 6 Day 2 11th July, 2018 It’s our first day in Stanford. We did quite a lot of things throughout the day, having our first lesson in Stanford, meeting new friends from different parts of the world, touring around Stanford and conducting joint exercises to know more about, not just people around us, but also ourselves while doing such exercises. Our first lesson in Stanford is about Design Thinking. We think it is very important for us, because it inspire us to jump out of the box, jump outside or comfort zone and jumpstart our brains to brainstorm out imaginative ideas. We all think that Design Thinking is very important, because it really helps us to know how to deal with our Global Solution Project(GSP). Stanford Tour 2018 Day 8 Group 6 17th July, 2018 We started off the day with a visit to the digital anatomy lab tour and we had a neuroscience class in the afternoon. Then, we had a college panel talk and a fire pit night with our international friends. The digital anatomy lab tour was very eye opening for us, as we never had a chance to see those organs in real life, like the hearts, lungs and brains. It builds on the knowledge we learnt in  biology lesson, which made it extra meaningful for us. We got to learn about the structures and functions of various organs. We were amazed by the complexity of the human body and the knowledge the instructors have. Next, we had a neuroscience class.
