15/7 Day 6 Group 4

In the morning, we went to the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. The exhibits were home to numerous species of animals such as snakes, fishes, birds and also Claude, an albino American alligator! The interactive experience allowed us to come face to face with the animals and immersed us into the wildlife in various habitats such as rainforests, coral reefs and swamps. We were amazed by many interesting facts that we have not learnt about, for example the structure of the wings of the Morpho Butterfly causes light waves to diffract and create a mesmerising blue colour. The display boards around the exhibition areas prompted us to reflect on our own actions that damage the ecosystem and commit ourselves to protecting the world together by eating less meat, reducing waste and saving energy.

After that we headed off to the Golden Gate Bridge. The view was breathtaking and we took a lot of photos with to keep the precious memories and share them with our family. It was a little windy near the sea so we decided to wear our red Stanford hoodies together for the first time! Afterwards, we had some free time at the Fisherman's Wharf to buy some snacks and souvenirs for our friends and family. The oreo churros were remarkably delicious! The locals at Pier 39 were very friendly and kind when we asked for directions and this created a warm atmosphere despite that we were in a place we have never been to before. Although we stayed for only an hour, we enjoyed and cherished the time we spent together at the Fisherman's Wharf.
