Stanford tour 2018 Day 3 –Group 1

12 July,
Day 3
We
started with Visual design thinking lessons with Bill. He took us to the Stanford Design School and
we visited several workshops as well as some exhibits. The designs were amazing
and we were all awestruck by the creativity of the students, I learnt that
inspiration comes wherever we are. He taught us ways of provoking our thoughts
through various ways, such as how to draw perfect cubes with just a few lines.
What impressed me the most was the arrange-the-letters game we had outside our
classroom. I discovered that thinking outside a closed area can give us much
more space to think and discuss. Overall, I enjoyed the lessons a lot.
We then
had lessons with Chloe on leadership. She gave us a unique toolkit on the path
of becoming a good leader. I was surprised that in order to be a good leader,
it is actually more important to have a good relationship with ourselves than
for us to be on good terms with other people. I like it most when Chloe summed
up the lesson by asking us to draw our own toolkit. It was really inspiring and
we had a great time.
After
that, we had our second GSP meeting. We divided ourselves into groups of two to
three and did some research on our respective topics. We cooperated well and
discussed and got across our messages to each other brilliantly. We finished
our research and are prepared to start making the posters in the next meeting.
Finally,
we prepared for our multi-cultural exhibition. We added a small part to our presentation
and it was quite exciting as the part was suddenly conjured out of thin air, so
we only had a day to prepare for it.
All in all, we had a great day today and we are looking forward to having the lessons tomorrow.
