Stanford Tour Day 8 Group 4

Lecture before the real tour!

Look into our brains in the lesson!

Fire Pit!!

The 8th day kicked off with an extraordinary experience in the anatomy laboratory in the Stanford Medical School. We were first introduced to the basic ideas of anatomy, revealing the history and technological developments of it. The most exciting part was being able to get in contact with cadavers, where we could learn more about the functions and how to locate tissues of organs. The Anatomage also took us in surprise with its fascinating function to visualise the parts as well as special body cases, such as combined twins, enabling us to experience the meaningful job of a surgeon.

After that, we learnt about the human brain in the neural science class. As we just understood more about the central nervous system in the laboratory, the additional lesson on the transmission of nerve signals caught our attention further. We learnt a lot about relations between grey matter and white matter, excitatory and inhibitory cells, which greatly enhanced our interest in the neural field. The experiments shown on the curing of Parkinson Disease was truly a stunning experience for us, as it shows the sense of prode and accomplishment to see the success of a medical treatment before our eyes.

The fire pit later on did lit up the rest of the night. By gathering and barbecuing our marshmallows with the other house, we were able to communicate and bond with people of different cultures. The food was delicious, but the friendship we established was even more memorable.

We just could not wait for another amazing day!
